Four Tips For Shopping Online That Will Keep You From Overspending
We’ve all been there. You go to the store to find something for your significant other, or try and tackle the shopping list, and see that one little thing that catches your eye that you think they’re just going to love, only to get your head bitten off when you walk in the door. They don’t like it. You should have known better.
So now not only did you overspend on the wrong gift, you blew your monthly budget to smithereens. You need to start all over again from budget 101 and take steps to avoid this situation ever again.
This is where the glory of the worldwide web comes into play. Knowing that you have the power of the internet at your fingertips is an awesome feeling. You can go wherever you want to go with a few keystrokes. You can see what’s up in Dublin or check out what folks are doing in Bucharest today. You can join the festival of the bulls in Barcelona or the Day of the Dead in Mazatlan.
And you can buy something your other half is going to love without ruining their budget planning, which is going to make them a lot happier with you all the way around.
Internet Shopping 101
An alternate headline for this paragraph might be “Internet Shopping for Dummies” but I thought I’d be kind. We will simply begin this lesson with step one.
1. Stalk the net. By this I mean check out the browsing habits of your significant other to find out where his interests really lie. Don’t worry. So far this is a legal act. You may be surprised to find that they are not necessarily what he tells you. There are certain to be sites that he/she visits regularly. Start formulating your gift buying plans here.
2. Keep Checking for Sales. The neat thing about the internet is that if you spend enough time and remain patient you will find what you are looking for and find it on sale somewhere in the vast world of cyberspace.
3. There are always Frequent Flyer Miles. If not miles, there are reward points or whatever it is the site offers you today. It’s always a nice thing to find a site that gives you something back for the time and money you spend there. When you find that site, always start your shopping right there.
4. Use the credit card that gives you something back. If you’re going to use your credit card anyway, why don’t you earn yourself a few extra brownie points? Use the card that gives you reward points for each dollar you spend.
Now you know the angles. There will be no exam but I do assume you took proper notes anyway. Relax knowing that you have your budget once again in the black and will strive to forever keep it that way. Your special someone with the truly special gift will be as pleasantly surprised as your budget.
