VPS Hosting – A Buying Guide to Servers
Virtual private server (VPS) hosting is web hosting similar to shared servers, but with more benefits. Shared servers are hosting sites in which multiple websites run off one server. These servers are great for those just starting out with their own websites and do not know a lot about the technological aspects of running a web page or for those pages that have not yet progressed to getting a lot of traffic. Notice it is called a shared server, and that is exactly what it is. all of these different websites are running off the same operating system, therefore, visitors can only use what happens to be available.
Another hosting option is a dedicated server. with a dedicated server, there is one server for one website. These sites have more access to things they need to make their business page run more efficiently, but they also pay a higher price. Perhaps you are now on a shared server but using too much system resources. You are ready to move up, but not yet ready for your own dedicated server. if this is the case then you should consider VPS hosting. This can give your business more of what it needs without breaking the bank financially.
When looking for VPS hosting there are a few things to consider. one is the memory capacity or RAM. How much do you need now and how much do you think you will need as your business continues to progress? does the company offer a backup RAM if you need it? if your business will have a lot of traffic or large files, then you will also need to consider how much bandwidth you need. The higher the traffic and downloads, the higher the bandwidth. does it offer at least four individual IP addresses? What kind of technical support and customer service does the company provide as part of your package? Will they be available around the clock?
You should also read reviews on the company. How long have they been in business? are they reputable? are there a lot of unsatisfied customers? What is the history of the company and why should I do business with them? Many questions should be asked before making a final decision but if your business is growing, you should consider looking into VPS hosting. Always check with the company to make sure they can provide you with everything you need and weigh all of your options.
