Inside Yottaa’s Site Speed Optimizer Service

An illustration shows how Yottaa’s site speed optimizer handles website traffic

(WEB HOST INDUSTRY REVIEW) — Speed has become one of the most important measures of an enterprise website’s effectiveness. if a site takes too long to load, it could turn off potential customers from ever coming back. Web optimization firm Yottaa (www.yottaa.com) has created two web performance products to address this need for speed, including its recently launched Site Speed Optimizer.

While the space is heavy with competitors, including LulzSec-endorsed CloudFlare (www.cloudflare.com) and Incapsula (www.incapsula.com), Yottaa CEO Coach Wei says its all-in-one service with a focus on performance sets this startup apart.

“Anybody who owns a website wants to make their website faster. Obviously there is good reason for that, but the problem is faster speed, faster performance so far has only been available to the top 10,000 websites that can afford the time and resources to figure out all the different solutions: how to measure your performance, how to test it, and how to accelerate it,” Wei says in a phone interview with the WHIR.

Between the general availability launch of its Site Speed Optimization service last week and being named a finalist for the Web 2.0 Startup Showcase in new York City, October has been a busy month for the Boston and Beijing-based company.

Wei says Yottaa’s new service is designed to be affordable and easy to use for websites of any size, making it an attractive solution for companies without huge resources.

“Essentially it’s a performance acceleration service that can automatically make any website dramatically faster, typically by 50 percent to 200 percent faster than the way it is today,” Wei says.

The self-managed service requires no software or hardware and can be provisioned in a few clicks, according to Wei. the online subscription model starts from $29 per month, Wei says.

Yottaa Site Speed Optimization provides more than just optimizations, Wei says. It provides monitoring, assessment and benchmarking as well.

Wei says its main competitors, Incapsula and CloudFlare, offer a security service with some performance benefits, and the recently launched Google Page Speed Service is an acceleration service without the added benefits of monitoring or benchmarking.

“Most websites aren’t going to have the bandwidth or the financial resources or the technical resources to go research every individual offering and pick out exactly how it will work. From that perspective, we think it’s very important to offer an all-in-one service with one place where you can get all the information you need,” Wei says.

Launched in beta last year, Yottaa’s website monitoring service monitors customers’ websites from multiple locations around the world using real browsers to give customers the real user experience of visitors to their websites.

“We give them all the stats, the metrics, tell them what problems there might be, and really help our customers understand how their website performs,” Wei says.

Wei says that in the last ten months Yottaa has amassed more than 50,000 website using its website monitoring service.

After speaking at HostingCon 2011, it is no surprise that Yottaa designed its product to work with hosting providers. Wei says web hosts can use its product to attract more revenue and provide additional value-add to their customers. Wei says Yottaa has been working closely with a wide-range of hosting providers through its referral program and reseller program.

“We work from the perspective of partnerships,” Wei says. “We don’t think people can do this alone.”

Host Gator Website Hosting Review

Host Gator started their business in 2002 hosting shared platforms. over time the company grew up to be one of the most reputable and reliable web hosts out there.

The company keep winning many awards due to their honest nature of business, excellent customer service, and quality services for fair prices.

Most recently the Host Gator went green to support the environment. this makes them one of the, if not the only hosting corporation to go green for the first time in the industry.

Host Gator offers three different hosting types. 1. Shared Hosting, 2. Dedicated Server Hosting, 3. Reseller Options. Let me give you an idea of what each one means.

Shared Hosting is your basic hosting option. if you are starting up a website or don’t have too much website traffic coming your way, a shared plan is more than enough.

With a Dedicated Server, you get your own server simple as that. if you are at the stage where your website is reaching traffic levels excess of couple of Million Pages Views a month or week, then Dedicated Hosting is your only option.

More on Dedicated Hosting, a Shared Hosting Account will never be able to handle the stress and network traffic on such a site. your website will simply crash due to overload of network bandwidth. make sure to switch to a Dedicated Server before you lose your customers for high traffic sites.

Finally, Reseller option is for anyone interested in running their own web hosting company like Host Gator. Basically you rent servers from Host gator, and they provide you with customer and tech support. All you do is create new customer accounts. you can name your own prices and keep all the profits.

From day one, the hosting was rock steady. When they say 99.9 up-time, they really mean it. All our sites are constantly monitor through third party services, and never once we had a problem with a site being down for longer periods.

We tried other hosting firms before the switch. Host Gator offers the best features and services for what you are paying with an unbelievable up-time and armed with a friendly and knowledgeable technical support team.

What's the difference between Hosting my site on a linux server or windows server?

I have a small site hosted on Linux in Godaddy but I am doubting if it has any negative effect than hosting on windows?

They had said it all man… Linux is the word… for mission critical servers…

honestly it should work either way, unless you have some really shifty software with which you made the site

here is best answer please read this link

Linux servers are often faster and more reliable. the majority of internet servers are running Apache, regardless of OS, and this was primarily developed for Unix based systems.

not much difference.. and no a linux server has no side effect on hosting..

It depends on what programming language you're using.

Usually Windows Hosting has IIS as middleware, Linux Apache. both can run for instance PHP, but if you use PHP always buy Linux hosting. It's cheaper and you won't have to call on the hosting provider as much to fix rights problems. for HTML/CSS it's all no problem.
