What is Website Hosting? – The Basics

For the purpose of this article I will assume that your searching for the answer to the following question: What is website hosting

Well, website hosting is required to have a web page displayed on the internet, a place where your files are kept and are translated from code to a display of images and text on a certain web address.

You see, every website file is made up of code, or language that is translated by the browser into a viewable and navigatable website. There are many languages that are used such as HTML and PHP.

To make use of website hosting you would first need to register a domain name which would then be connected to a hosting account. in most instances, you would register a domain name with the same company as you use hosting as the domain will automatically connect to the hosting account once you have setup an account.

You can however register a domain name from a separate company if you find a better deal and change the name servers to point to the second company that you choose for hosting.

Nameservers are provided by the company who provides your hosting account in which you use within your domain account.

If you don’t know much about website hosting then I would recommend you register your domain name with the same provider as your hosting as the company will offer any support if you have troubles.

Been new to the world of web hosting can be very frustrating at first but if you choose the right website hosting company you are sure to get somewhere as these days, web hosting companies support is so competitive that you will find that your questions will be answered before you ask.

Choosing the right host can also be difficult if you don’t know what to look for. as a few pointers just look out for the following things:

1- Make sure the website hosting company has phone and email support.
2- Make sure the sites uptime is as close to 100% as possible.
3- find a host with features such as a free domain name, unlimited diskspace, unlimited bandwidth, and a website builder.
4- if a website offers Unlimited Bandwidth and Diskspace you will need to read terms and conditions before hand.

I hope you enjoyed reading this article and hope you can find the best host.

How does one start a website hosting?

How does one start a website hosting? do you need to have a special license? ….like Yahoo! is a search engine did they have to acquire a license to provide geocities for web builders?

I'm not sure exactly what your asking,so I'll try answering anyway

if you're asking how do you start a company that YOU host websites for other people.then all you really need is a computer running Linux with a big hard drive and a Internet connection with allot of bandwidth and some geek to set it all up for you :) .there is no hosting license that i know of,you just really need to know what your doing though

on the other hand if you are asking how do you put YOUR website online, then the answer to that would be to search for a website host that gives you the features that you need for a monthly price within your budget.you signup for an account with them, upload your files to your space on their server (or email them to someone at the host),and blam they are online for the world to see.if you're on the east coast of Canada or us,i would recommend forcenet computer services (http://www.forcenet.ca/) as they are really helpful to people that are new to website hosting and treat clients like people instead of just account numbers or dollar signs like some of the larger hosts

U can check my profile for more information regarding websites, and website hosting, all the best :) hope it helps :)

Thats a site to create a website.I don't think you need a liscens or anything, but i think you have to email google and all to get it on there search engenes.

Depending on what kind of site you want, there are a number of options. You can use something like Google pages (https://www.google.com/accounts/ServiceL… to make a small 10 page site for free, or Blogger (http://www.blogger.com) to make a free blog.

If you want more flexibility in the way your site is designed and run, then you need to buy some hosting (from a company such as http://www.1&1.co.uk), which can range from cheap to very expensive depending on what you want to do with it.

You don't need a license – thats one of the best things about the Internet – anyone can in theory do anything (providing their hosting contract allows it)

Yahoo doesn't need a license to provide Geocities because it's a free service – the users agree to abide by Yahoos terms when they sign up.

no there is not required any license. if you wants to your own server/computer, then you have to registered your computers/servers IP address. this registration will do your domain register-er. then you can do it. other wise you can take reseller ship for business or hosting packages from other host.

You can buy your own Server which would be very expensive or be a re-seller for a hosting company (basically you pay for a large amount of space per month and then resell small parts of it to others for whatever price you can get )

I pay about $10/mth for my hosting package and maintain several other small websites for others and charge them each $10 a month to host it and do minor updates. I work with those who don't know much about web design but want their own small site for a small or home business which I maintain and control. So not giving someone else outright access to the space on my account where they could do anything to get me shut down too, lol.
